3D Printing Technologies
Organized by the ISCT Process and Product Development (PPD)
Subcommittee of the Commercialization Committee
Chair: Shannon Eaker, PhD, GE Healthcare, United States
Speakers: Thomas Boland, PhD, University of Texas at El Paso, United States and Julie Allickson, PhD, Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, United States
About the Webinar:
The field of tissue and 3D organ bioprinting has grown tremendously in the past few years. Human organ shortage is a global issue and the ability to supply tissues/organs produced ex-vivo marks a significant achievement in the field of regenerative medicine.
This webinar will discuss current research findings in 3D bioprinting technologies; specifically the current state-of-the-art, technology limitations, and challenges.
Dr. Thomas Boland will discuss the current research around microvasculature formation and possible combinations of “fluid” and scaffold printing to improve existing tissue engineering technology.
Dr. Allickson will discuss the opportunities in 3D Bioprinting with consideration for cells and biomaterials selections, the clinical translation roadblocks and the regulatory complexity in this field.
